Paris isn’t all about couples and romance – it’s seriously child-friendly too, with as many as 600 play areas strewn through its various parks and gardens.

Whatever the ages of your youngsters there’ll be something to suit: swings in Parc Montsouris, rollerblading and scooter lanes in Parc Monceau, table-tennis tables in the Jardin du Ranelagh, or a balancing beam and merry-go-round at Parc de Bercy. The Parc Floral in the Bois de Vincennes is one particularly fun spot for little ones with its 6-metre-high slide and ball pool. The Jardin des Vents et des Dunes and Jardin des Voltiges will delight learner tightrope walkers, and if your kids are aged 8-12, take them to the Parc de Belleville for its amazing climbing trail. Other public gardens such as the Parc de la Villette and the Tuileries suit children purely for their burn-off-steam space and endless hide-and-seek opportunities. There’s also a funfair in the latter each summer.
