Since 2020, the French fashion designer, who has been committed to the democratization of contemporary art for many years, has opened La Fab. a cultural and architectural space accessible to all, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.
Fashion and contemporary art go hand in hand at Agnès b. The French designer, who has always stood out for her commitment to democratizing art, has created her own foundation, open since 2020.
La Fab. sets up shop in a booming cultural and architectural district
Called La Fab. the 2,400 m2 space is located in Place Jean-Michel Basquiat, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. This "cultural place for all "* came into being after more than a year's work. Like a symbol, La Fab. has been installed at the bottom of a social housing building in a district undergoing a cultural and architectural boom, a new Paris that's young and full of promise. The immaculate building, designed by Augustin Rosenstiehl of SOA Architectes, looks to some like white sugar cubes piled one on top of the other.
Exhibitions, gallery and bookshop
Agnès b. herself curates the exhibitions, whose works are drawn from her collection built up over several decades. The Fab. also houses the "galerie du jour", conceived as a house where everything is for sale: paintings, sculptures, photographs, some furniture... And the "librairie du jour", a bookshop where publishers will be invited to contribute to the selection and staging of the works on display.
