In the Pyrenees, along the St James's Way pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela, around the Cathar castles or in the Cevennes with donkeys on the Stevenson’s path, not a single part of Occitania / South of France is free of footpaths.

The dense network of trails here is every walker's and hiker's dream: a total of 30,000 km of waymarked footpaths that make this region an attractive proposition where people come to feel at one with nature.

In the GR®10 that runs along the entire length of the Pyrenees, the Tour of the Larzac where the Knights Templar and Hospitaller once held sway, and the Chemin des Bonshommes that explores Cathar Country, you have three of the best long-distance walking routes in Southwestern France. These walks sum up the identity of Occitania / South of France, giving you a real experience of the beautiful scenery and powerful sense of history to be found here.

Gavarnie tour of cirques with donkeys

From village to village, wonderful encounters and surprises: pretty woods, small mills, cheese cellars, shepherds doing their milking ... ! The presence of a donkey makes the trip accessible and fun for children, a beautiful hike in the low mountains with the high mountains as a backdrop.
