The Vignobles & Découvertes label aims to provide quality services and visits catering to wine tourism. The label appeals to a customer base that appreciates the world of wine without necessarily being connoisseurs, and offers a range of quality services: accommodation, cultural sites, leisure activities, cellar tours, restaurants, exploration of natural spaces, events and more.

Two destinations in Languedoc have been awarded the label: La Narbonnaise en Méditerranée and Pays de Thau.

Destination: Pays de Thau

In Hérault, the “Pays de Thau” destination offers the opportunity to experience the specialities of 13 other cities (Balaruc-le-Vieux, Balaruc-les-Bains, Bouzigues, Frontignan, Gigean, Loupian, Marseillan, Mèze, Mireval, Poussan, Vic la Gardiole and Villeveyrac), through the subtle pairing of “Wines and Shellfish”, all from the central city of Sète.

The Thau pond, is a true inland sea of 7500 hectares, linking the "Canal du Midi" and the "Canal du Rhône" in Sète. It’s the largest pond in Languedoc-Roussillon, offering a singular landscape, ranking first in the Mediterranean basin's biodiversity, with many exceptional and rare species such as the seahorse.

1600 hectares of vineyards are classified as PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), including the producers of "Frontignan Muscat", "Mireval Muscat", "Picpoul de Pinet" and "Grès de Montpellier - Coteaux du Languedoc". The destination “Pays de Thau” is also the land of local wines renowned as PGI (Protected Geographical Indication), like the "Côtes de Thau", the "Les Collines de la Moure", and "Sables du Golfe" wines, along with the traditional "Le Terret" grape. "La Maison Noilly Prat" Vermouths complement the “Pays de Thau” destination, and its renowned varieties of wine.

The “Pays de Thau” incorporates a network of 48 selected partners: 17 tourist wine cellars, 3 oyster farms, 9 holiday accommodations, 6 restaurants, 6 heritage sites and leisure providers. The 6 tourist offices and the "Sud Singulier" agency are dedicated to helping you discover a rich and varied wine selection, while also focusing on the other activities inherent to the destination, such as cultural events, heritage, festivities, etc.

The “Pays de Thau”, and its mosaic of terroirs, allow everyone to create a stay tailored to their desires.
