Cultural city guide in Nice

Thanks to its rich artistic and cultural heritage, Nice is one of the largest French cities in terms of the number of museums, private contemporary art galleries and artists' studios.

Numerous museums allow to associate art and nature. Among the most renowned is the Matisse Museum, located in the enchanting setting of the Cimiez gardens, bordered by centuries-old olive trees and Roman ruins. The Marc Chagall National Museum, highlighting the Mediterranean flora (maritime pines, olive trees, holm oaks); the Jules Chéret Fine Arts Museum, has a garden with numerous botanical curiosities from the Mediterranean basin and the Phoenix Park, a place for temporary exhibitions, next to the Departmental Museum of Asian Arts, housing 2500 species of plants and 2000 animals, which is home to one of the most important greenhouses in Europe.


The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art presents an extensive collection of nearly 1300 works by more than 300 artists, major figures of 20th century art.
It is also a unique place to enjoy a circular panorama of the entire city.
The Nice-Côte d'Azur international airport, located 7 km west of Nice, benefits from a tramway link from the 2 terminals to the city centre in only 15 minutes.
