Rendez-vous at the Musée Rodin, a haven of peace in the heart of Paris

In the heart of Paris, just a few steps from Invalides, is the Hotel Biron and its stunning gardens with a true appreciation for sculptures! An art form amplified by the incredibly well known artist Auguste Rodin (1840 – 1917) who has left an invaluable heritage upon the grounds where he once lived.

Since 1919, the Hotel Biron, a magnificent hotel from the 18th Century, has hosted the Rodin Museum.

After three years of restoration (2012-2015), the hotel invites you to discover, like never before, the complete works of one of the most famous French sculptors.

View the displays in a new light

To display and highlight Rodin’s sculptures more than ever before: this was the goal envisioned for this ambitious renovation. This was achieved thanks to new display, brand new wooden furniture, and extraordinary natural lighting, combined with an optimised artificial lighting for each individual object: plaster, bronze, marble...

Understanding Rodin

As of its grand reopening, 18 rooms across two floors are available to visit, which are organised in both chronologic and thematic order. The museum, entirely dedicated to commemorating Rodin, focuses on explaining the sculptor’s artistic process and presents his work in a much more complete way than before, so in turn helping many more people to understand his work.

As well as works by Rodin, you can also admire several of his personal collections which underline his artistic taste.

Contemplate a selection of antiques that Rodin held close to his heart, displayed in the room “Rodin et l’Antique”. In addition, a collection of art by renowned artists, such as Van Gogh (Portrait of Père Tanguy), Edward Munch (The Thinker) and also Eugène Carrière (Le Theatre de Belleville), is also on show.

Works and Gardens

Outside of the exhibition rooms, explore a new space dedicated to graphic art and photography. And, finish your trip with a pleasant walk through the beautiful gardens, filled with acclaimed sculptures such as The Gates of Hell, The Burghers of Calais and of course, the famous Thinker.
