In 2021, the memory of Napoleon I will be celebrated at a number of locations and on a number of occasions. Indeed, 5th May 2021 will mark the bicentenary of the death of the Emperor of France.

Exhibition to walk in the footsteps of Napoleon
First of all, introduce your customers to this historical character with the must-see event and the unique exhibition (External link) dedicated to him in the Grande Halle de la Villette. From his rise to the decline of his Imperial adventure, the exhibition retraces this pivotal period in nine different sections, from key moments in French History (External link) to the intimate and romantic life of the Emperor.
Now that your clients know a little bit more about Napoleon, they can follow his journey by exploring his illustrious residences and the many sites in and around Paris that he left his mark on forever!

A true visionary builder, the first Emperor of France wanted to make Paris and its region the "capital of the universe". Even today, his ambition can still be seen on the walls and in the history of the City of Light: from the Louvre Museum (External link) to the Pantheon (External link) , visit the Arc de Triomphe (External link) or the Army Museum and the Dôme des Invalides (External link) where he now rests…

And all around Paris... find our selection of emblematic landmarks where Napoleon lived and stayed:
To begin with, head for Rueil-Malmaison to discover the Château de Malmaison (External link) . Napoleon and his wife, Josephine de Beauharnais, settled here in 1799 in this sublime building with apartments decorated by the famous Percier and Fontaine and a unique insight into the daily life of the Imperial Couple.
After his divorce from Josephine, Napoleon had the Grand Trianon restored in Empire style in order to take advantage of a country residence. In this way, your clients will be able to visit the Château de Versailles (External link) from a completely different angle.

Then head to the Château de Rambouillet (External link) , 50km west of Paris, which was his final refuge before going into exile in 1814.
Finally, to complete their journey, your clients can visit the Château de Fontainebleau (External link) , located 45 minutes south-east of Paris. A must during their visit is the throne room, the only one in France today still preserved in its original state.
