Spend a few days in Brittany's Côtes-d'Armor region, put on your boots and head to the farm. Take your time, reconnect with the land and those who cultivate it. Say hello to the calves, cows and pigs, collect eggs, learn to recognise plants and understand sustainable farming practices in tune with the seasons. This is also what Brittany is all about.

Day 1: From Andel to Plélo (41 km)

Andel, Côtes-d'Armor, France

This is the start of an idyllic itinerary in the lush countryside of Saint-Brieuc Bay. At Marie-Jeanne's farm in Andel, you can wander freely and meet the animals: goats, rabbits, sheep, pigs, donkeys, as well as peacocks and poultry. Families tend to linger here, drawn by their children's curiosity and the simple charm of the place. In summer, children can even take part in the ‘little farmer's workshop’ to get a taste of the exciting life of farmers. In December, take your time at the farmers' Christmas market, where 25 producers showcase their products.

Before leaving Marie-Jeanne, it's impossible to resist the call of the shop: chicken, guinea fowl, turkey or duck, farmhouse cheeses, herbal teas, ciders, poultry terrines and many other local delicacies. The baskets filled with local products are perfect for prolonging the taste of the countryside at home, or for treating yourself to a little Breton picnic before your next destination.

We head to Plélo, where we spend the rest of the day at Le Char à Bancs, the farmhouse inn run by the three Lamour sisters. It's a magical place, where everything invites you to slow down. We settle in for two nights of peace and tranquillity. The mill is nestled in the middle of a bucolic 30-hectare valley, crossed by the Leff, a small enchanted river.

In the evening, guests can enjoy the famous Breton stew cooked over a wood fire, which simmers for five hours in a huge cast-iron cauldron. Prepared with vegetables from the garden (cabbage, potatoes, leeks, garlic, shallots, onions, herbs) and pork from the family farm (sausage, bacon, shoulder, garlic sausage), it leaves an indelible memory for travellers who have the pleasure of savouring it (by reservation only). When night falls, the cottages and guest rooms, separate from the main house, remind us that the Breton countryside has style.

Day 2: At the Char à bancs, in Plélo

Wake up gently in this little Breton paradise. Spend the morning strolling along the water's edge or discovering the thousand and one plants in Benjamin's garden. The proximity to many exceptional Breton sites such as the island of Bréhat, Beauport Abbey or the seaside towns of Binic and Saint-Quay-Portrieux means you can set off on an excursion if you feel like it.

On your return, young and old alike will have plenty of time to head to Hisse et Ho: an outdoor area where everyone can have fun on a 1,500 m² adventure course, zip lines and a unique giant slide. Unless you prefer to enjoy the panoramic sauna for the ultimate moment of relaxation.

In the evening, treat yourself to timeless Breton flavours with comforting buckwheat galettes and crêpes.

Day 3: From Plélo to Pont-Melvez via Lantic (31 miles)

Lantic, France

After breakfast, say goodbye to the Lamour family and head to Lantic, to La Ferme de Sous la Ville. Here, between land and sea, Michèle Mellin runs a farm with cows, pigs and poultry. Alone or in a group, visitors come to discover the land, the animals in the pastures, and talk about passion and transmission. In summer, the farm offers the chance to venture into a large corn maze that delights children and reminds us that agriculture is totally dependent on the seasons. What a pleasure it is to have fun in the great outdoors!

For lunch, opt for a picnic or take a detour to Plourhan (10 minutes by car) to discover Rolland, a bistro housed in an old mill renovated by two brothers. Seafood and vegetables grown on site.

In the afternoon, head to the Domaine du Jardin Mod Kozh, where the friendly farmers Gwendoline and Jimmy offer tours of their educational farm. Gwendoline will also enthusiastically show you how the estate's delicious honey is made, from the hives to the jars.

You will then spend the night in a charming cottage with a spa. Between the Finnish bath, fruit trees and views of the animals, you will be able to completely unwind.

Day 4 : Pont-Melvez

When you wake up, the mischievous goats greet you, delighting children and adults alike, and the morning passes peacefully in the vegetable garden, for example, discovering a wide variety of heirloom tomatoes.

In the afternoon, why not explore Paimpol or Perros-Guirec, just a stone's throw away, before returning to recharge your batteries at the estate and spend a second night there.

Your itinerary ends here, and you will no doubt leave Brittany with a heavy heart, but with a basket full of honey, jams, jars of vegetables and sauces from the mod khoz garden.
