From July 7 to September 1, 2020, France's south east is taking over Galeries Lafayette in Paris. This is your chance to experience the warm lifestyle and beautiful, colourful landscapes of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur through a selection of local brands and sunny activities. The southern air is blowing at this Parisian institution...

Provence is a region known the world over for its azure, ochre and orange-hued landscapes, its delicious food, its song-like accent and its very 'French' lifestyle. The destination of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is a heady mix of sunshine and culture, from the MUCEM in Marseille to the Carrières de Lumières in Baux-de-Provence and the Hyères International Fashion Festival.

This is an area whose renowned expertise and traditions have international acclaim: St-Tropez sandals, Marseille soap, oils and wines from Provence, and the creations of fashion house Jacquemus, which celebrated its 10th anniversary by parading through the lavender fields.

The Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur destination captivates visitors with its multitude of beautiful assets. After the success of Normandy Cherie last year, Galeries Lafayette is relaunching the experience by giving a blank canvas to Provence, the Southern Alps and Nice-Côte d'Azur this summer. A real ray of sunshine as a prelude to your physical visit to this stunning part of France.

Travel beckons

To decorate the windows of the department store on Boulevard Haussmann for the occasion, Franco-American fashion photographer David Luraschi captured the region's key landscapes on camera. The nine film shots on display showcase the Negresco hotel in Nice, the port of St-Tropez, the calanques and the Provencal village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, capturing their essence in a raw and authentic style.

The immersive visit continues with a fine selection of emblematic products and brands from the south, such as cosmetics from L'Occitane en Provence, Ernest Ernest and Panier des Sens, beautiful fashion brand Sessun, the delicacies of Biscuiterie de Provence and Eloïde, bags made from recycled boat fabrics from Toiles du Large, and iconic Ricard spirits, which is making its grand debut at Galeries Lafayette. All in a casual, chic setting, lined with wicker baskets and olive trees.

Pétanque grounds and Mediterranean cuisine

In terms of entertainment too, it's all about sunshine and conviviality. Take part in the summer afternoons organised on the store's panoramic terrace from July 23 to 26 from 3.30 to 6.30 pm, with pétanque tournaments and Ricard tastings. Pre-booking required.

Foodies won't be disappointed with the expected reopening of the Creatures restaurant, located on the roof of the store. From delicious courgette focaccia to gin cocktails infused with lavender tonic, all the flavours of the south that made the reputation of chef Julien Sebbagg will be available. Including a show from the open kitchen!

Plus, the Ferrandi School of Gastronomy, located at the Maison et Gourmet des Galeries store, will offer a menu of three iconic dishes from the region: petits farcis, pissaladière and tarte Tropézienne. So, when will you come and take a look?
