Paris and its terraces—every summer, they pop up in plain sight and in hidden corners. Ephemeral, quiet, crowded, chic, popular, panoramic or cozy, this is our selection of summer terraces to live Paris outdoors. How to choose? Beats us, we want them all!

Fabula's timeless

Forget the hustle and bustle of the bustling Marais district. Behind the gates of the Musée Carnavalet, home to the secrets of Parisian history, time seems to stand still. Every summer evening, the courtyard and its formal gardens are transformed into a terrace for epicureans and lovers of sustainable cuisine. After Chloé Charles and Thibaut Spiwack, it's the turn of Julien Dumas, Michelin-starred chef at the Saint James, to sign a vegetal menu with plates to share (young leeks with nasturtium leaves and flowers, peas with leaves and lovage oil). The herbaceous touch can also be found in the cocktails concocted by Remy Savage, voted best mixologist in the world in 2022 (pea shoots, tagetes leaves, licorice, shiso or marigold). And there's no need to wait until evening to enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Throughout the day, a self-service catering service is available to visitors.

Aquatic at ON Paris Seine

There's nothing like a trip to the quays of the Seine to admire the sunset and relax with friends or loved ones by the water! Head for On Paris Seine, the summer terrace of Off Paris Seine, Paris's first floating hotel and bar, located near the Jardin des Plantes. Here, you can take in the view of the Austerlitz viaduct (and the aerial metro) while sharing a revisited mezze. Don't forget to check the events calendar. The atmosphere promises to be varied all summer long, with champagne tastings, oysters or concerts depending on the evening, art workshops or oenology courses during the day...

Ecoresponsible at Jardin21

Gardening workshops, introduction to eco-responsible practices, local producers' and designers' market, locavore cuisine, organic juices... Jardin 21 is the perfect place to spend a fun and sustainable summer in Paris. A planted wasteland of over 2000 m² located on the banks of the Canal de l'Ourcq, in the Parc de la Villette, where you can sip home-made drinks and enjoy dishes based on vegetables from the kitchen garden in the shade of fruit trees. An eco-responsible terrace that also comes alive at the end of the day with DJ sets and concerts by local collectives.

Gourmande à La Terrasse

Just a stone's throw from Pont Neuf, on the Ile de la Cité, "la terrasse" is undoubtedly the most gourmet address in Paris this summer. In the shade of the plane trees of Place Dauphine, you can indulge in sweet treats by Philippe Conticini and Jeffrey Cagnes: Millefeuille monté minute, Chou Passion or tarte fraise rhubarbe, the two masters of French and Parisian pastry offer their signature creations for a gourmet snack that's sure to tantalize the taste buds! To get the day off to a good start, or to treat yourself to a snack between two visits, a selection of viennoiseries and savoury products are on the menu.

La Terrasse" by Philippe Conticini and Jeffrey Cagnes Saturday to Monday and daily from July 15.

Champêtre at the Chalet des îles Daumesnil

In search of freshness and greenery in the heart of summer? Head for the Bois de Vincennes, one of Paris's green lungs, for a bucolic interlude among the islands of Lake Daumesnil. It's here, close to the Parc zoologique de Paris, that the Perchoir team opened its new address in spring 2023: country-style decor, house cocktails with summer flavours (Elderberry liqueur, yellow lemon, organic ginger beer), tasty side dishes concocted by chef (and former fencer!) Manon Fleury with Kalamata olives and pickled vegetables or yoga classes... Ideal to quench your thirst (or recharge your batteries) after a visit to the Parc Floral de Paris or the Parc Zoologique de Paris with the kids. La cabane de l'île also serves crêpes and Chantilly waffles. Ouf! We're happy to extend the evening with barbecues or seafood platters in a DJ or piano bar atmosphere on Thursday evenings.

To get there, use the metro or Vélib', and for the more virtuous, take the Coulée Verte René-Dumont linking the Place de la Bastille to the Château de Vincennes.

Underground at Hasard Ludique

Le Hasard Ludique made a splash during its opening last year. A nice venue with a Berlin touch, installed in an old station of La Petite Ceinture (a former railway converted into a raised park); we had no choice but to love the concept. This year, to celebrate its first anniversary, Le Hasard Ludique has created the "Bar du quai," a space of 300 m2 located below in the grass. Cocktails and tapas are on the menu, and so are poetry contests, flea markets, ecological bazaars, exhibitions, and of course concerts and DJ sets. Le Hasard Ludique has concocted a busy program, with dozens of things to look forward to this summer!

Elegant at Très Particulier

Nestled in the heart of the Montmatre district, Le Très Particulier is the kind of address you'd like to keep preciously to yourself. Go through the gate and take a few steps down the alley before entering the tree-lined garden, which doubles as a hotel and restaurant. Cross the courtyard before descending to the bar level, the Très Particulier. Here, take advantage of the tree-lined ambience, glass roof and refined decor to enjoy delicious cocktails (such as the delicate "Très Particulier" made with gin, elderflower cordial, tonic and verbena-lavender tincture) and some tasty plates to share. A charming interlude and a spellbinding address in every respect!

Surprises at Ground Control

This is one of the top addresses of the Gare de Lyon district. Since last year, Ground Control has landed in the Charolais Hall, an empty space of the SNCF, and has created an attractive terrace of 1500 m2. This year, it's returned, grabbing the interior space to offer us even more activities. A cocktail bar in an airplane cockpit, concept shops, workshops, exhibitions, food trucks for all tastes ... you can spend hours in Ground Control without discovering all the secrets.

At home at Papa Cabane

On Thursday night, Papa Cabane is the place to be! The huge terrace installed right behind the AccorHotels Arena is coming back this season. With its tables and benches made of pallets and its many activities, from here the capital looks like a summer camp. Pétanques, ping pong, foosball ... there is something for everyone here, accompanied by DJ set all evening long. And if you are a bit hungry? Feast on what the many food trucks are peddling. We have only one complaint: that the place is open only one evening per week!

Vertiginous in Laho

Take to the skies at Le Laho to admire one of the most breathtaking sunsets in Paris: perched on the 17th floor of a business center, 60 meters high and just a stone's throw from the Gare de Lyon! The premises are accessible by private elevator. Once there, take advantage of the green décor and the gourmet, resolutely local menu (sweet and savory plates to share, cocktails and mocktails).

Perched at the Porte de Versailles

"In the Perchoir family, I'd like the one at Porte de Versailles!" After Ménilmontant, Gare de l'Est, Le Marais, Pavillon Puebla and Le Dôme, it's impossible to talk about Parisian terraces without mentioning the first of the Group's establishments to set up shop on the Left Bank, on the roof of Pavilion 6 at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Center. It is located at the heart of "the world's largest urban rooftop farm", where strawberries, tomatoes and other salads are grown... These are just some of the foods you'll find on the restaurant's menu. Who can beat the country-style XXL terrace and local produce?

Al-fresco at the Bal de la Marine

What if you had a drink with a view of the Eiffel Tower? This is the sort of cocktail hour the Bal de la Marine hosts on its new terrace. This waterside bistro was once the meeting place of admirals and high-ranking sailors, but that was before the dynamic team of La Javelle took it over. Today, we go there to taste oysters or ceviche with our feet in the water, or to dance it out to wild playlists or soak up the music at concerts. All under the glitter of la Tour Eiffel.
