Celebrating 160 years of Printemps, Icon of Paris

In 1865, Jules and Augustine Jaluzot opened Printemps with a visionary promise: to offer “something new, fresh, and beautiful.” Over the decades, the store has reinvented itself again and again — anticipating social change, elevating beauty, and turning shopping into a cultural experience.

To celebrate its 160th anniversary, Printemps Haussmann invites visitors to a unique summer experience — a tribute to Paris, its symbols, and the department store’s own remarkable legacy.

Printemps becomes a true Parisian Postcard

From July 10 to August 24, Printemps transforms into a living postcard of the capital.

To bring this dreamlike vision to life, Printemps called on Éric Giriat, a French illustrator known for his colorful, humorous, and elegant style. Describing himself as a “graphic researcher” and a “borderless illustrator,” Giriat blends styles, techniques, and moods. His illustrations for the campaign are filled with charm and lightness, offering visitors a new lens through which to view the City of Light.

Iconic Partners Of The Capital

To make this celebration even more meaningful, Printemps has joined forces with several emblematic Parisian institutions, each of them part of the city’s collective imagination — and closely connected to the department store’s own story.

Les Deux Magots

This legendary literary café of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, which recently celebrated its own 140th anniversary, shares a historical link with Printemps: in 1881, after a fire, Printemps used the Les Deux Magots storefront as a temporary space to continue operations.

As part of the celebration, Les Deux Magots will appear in a Boulevard Haussmann window, evoking the timeless charm of the Left Bank. Inside the store, a live jazz performance recreates the café’s ambiance, and 100 exclusive gift cards will be handed out during the festivities.

RATP

The history of Printemps is closely linked to the evolution of Parisian transport. Its proximity to major stations like Saint-Lazare and the opening of metro lines at Caumartin and Havre-Caumartin played a key role in its development.

For this anniversary, RATP will be featured in a window display and will present a special exhibition at Auber RER Station, celebrating the intertwined stories of mobility and commerce. A live concert by metro musicians, selected by RATP, will also be held in-store on July 19.

Other cultural partners also enrich the journey, including the Grand Palais, the Jardin des Tuileries, the Eiffel Tower, and the Opéra Garnier — iconic institutions that, together, make Printemps a true gateway to discovering (or rediscovering) the capital.

Exclusive, Symbolic Gifts and Treats

Celebrating 160 years also means sharing meaningful memories — through elegant, curated gifts that pay homage to Parisian heritage.

Taste the Celebration at Printemps du Goût

Because no birthday is complete without something sweet, pastry chef Bryan Esposito has created a limited-edition dessert named L’Instant 1865. Composed of violet-infused cream, strawberry compote with olive oil and honey, a madeleine biscuit, and a hazelnut sable, this refined dessert captures the elegance and creativity that have defined Printemps since its founding.

This pastry will be available at the Bleu Coupole restaurant starting July 10, for €14 — a refined way to experience the Printemps spirit in a single bite.Sponsor a Bench at the Jardin des Tuileries

In partnership with Printemps Listes, visitors can take part in a beautiful initiative: sponsoring one of the iconic green benches of the Jardin des Tuileries. For €5,000, a personalized plaque is placed on a bench backrest for 10 years, making it a lasting tribute — and a symbolic gesture rooted in the city’s history.

Take Home a Piece of Paris from the Souvenir Shop

To commemorate this anniversary, Printemps is launching its first-ever souvenir shop, featuring a collection of items designed as playful nods to its graphic universe and Parisian identity.

LA LIGNE P COEUR

Launched in 2022 with the store’s new visual identity, this line features the “P Cœur” symbol — a heart-shaped “P” that evokes flowers, petals, and butterflies. It represents emotion, discovery, and the spirit of metamorphosis, declined in an elegant and sophisticated palette.

THE P MARGUERITE LINE

Inspired by the iconic 1970 logo created by Jean Widmer, this collection celebrates natural freshness and graphic boldness. The daisy emblem, revisited for today, appears on select items as a timeless print.

The collection includes notebooks, tote bags, mugs, scarves, keychains, T-shirts, decorative objects, and more — all available at Printemps Haussmann and in selected stores across France.
