Wherever Christian Louboutin goes, he finds inspiration. Collecting ideas and references like a modern-day Marco Polo, his love of folk arts and traditional craftsmanship was the starting point for this season’s newest limited-edition cabas offering, the CARACABA.
“I have been travelling in my head since I was a kid, looking at travel agencies magazines and imagining months of backpacking, booking fake hotel nights and train tickets, meeting people from all over the world, learning unknown languages. From there, I made this dream my everyday life. But recently, I’ve been travelling in a totally different way – without moving at all.”
Inviting us to take an imaginary journey through the designer’s creative universe, the Maison’s latest offering is nothing short of a joyfully riotous patchwork of styles and colors. Featuring a hand-embroidered ‘Louboutin’, each letter revisits designer’s most iconic inspirations and destinations, from the vibrant MEXICABA, all the way to the sumptuously detailed CABARAPARIS.

Also making its debut is the exclusive TAROT print, designed especially for the Maison. Inspired by the famed Tarot de Marseille deck, it highlights selected cards from the Major Arcanas and features on the CARACABA’s lining as well as some of the capsule’s key bags and shoes.

With its square base, signature stud detailing and slender leather top handles, the CARACABA is ideally sized for packing the essentials and more, but those who like to travel even lighter need look no further than the mini CARACABA e-commerce exclusive. Launching in May, the collection will also include a Tarot-print inspired capsule of bags, and women’s and men’s shoes.

Always looking for a way to give back, the Maison will be making a donation to La Source, a French charity aiming to broaden the horizons of young people by providing them with the means to express themselves creatively.
THE MEXICABA ELISA
Crafted from hand-woven cotton embellished with vivid Mayan embroideries and multiple types of beads painted with mythical wild beast motifs, the MEXICABA ELISA is eye-catching to say the least. More than a collector’s item, this MEXICABA-inspired style pays tribute to the craftsmanship of the Mexican artisans who helped bring it to life.
THE PISTE AUX ÉTOILES ELISA
It’s safe to say that Christian Louboutin is something of a dreamer and the PISTE AUX ÉTOILES ELISA is a perfect example of his boundless imagination. Featuring glitter panels and hand-encrusted with almost 3000 individual strass crystals, this shimmering style seems to have fallen straight from the heavens – And not for nothing. Inspired by the majestic beauty of the desert skies at night, this starry design nods to magic of Middle Eastern folk tales as recounted in One Thousand and One Nights.
THE PORTUGABA ELISA
“Portugal is one of the places I go to design my summer collections. The light, the laid-back attitude of the people here and more globally the vibe is very inspiring to me.” Paying tribute to the PORTUGABA, this top handle ELISA celebrates the beauty of Portugal’s traditional craftsmanship, in particular its legendary blue Azulejo tiles.
THE SHOES
Featuring two emblematic styles, the CARACABA women’s shoe capsule puts the Tarot print front and center stage.
On the Iriza pump, it adorns everything from the upper, the 100mm heel, and the inner sole for a seamless illusion, whilst on the Sandale du Desert, it finds its place on the sandal’s silk scarf tie.

On the men’s styles too, the Tarot print takes precedence, covering the tasseled Officialito’s loafers’ upper and inner sole for a playful twist on an elegant style. It also features on the Louis Junior Spikes Orlato sneaker, bringing a fresh update to a staple style of the Maison’s.
