Montfaucon Monument

The Montfaucon monument commemorates victories of the American First Army and our French Allies in the Meuse Argonne Offensive from September 26 to November 11, 1918. This dominating height was taken from the enemy on September 27 by the American 37th and 79th Divisions. The monument’s observation platform provides views of the Argonne Forrest, and the heights of Barricourt, Romagne, and the Meuse. These strategic objectives captured in the campaign, are named on the monument. Within the monument are tributes to American and French forces and a map of the campaign with narrative.

From May through September, the inside of Montfaucon is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
