Outdoor, active pursuits and heritage: Gorges du Verdon

Just two hours by road from Marseille, the Gorges du Verdon Regional Nature Park boasts a relief landscape which is unique in France, colourful traditional villages and remarkable flora and fauna.

The Verdon Gorge river canyon is often considered one of the most beautiful in Europe, and is open to a whole host of outdoor activities, making it the perfect destination for those who enjoy climbing, hiking, or white-water activities.

The most well-known pursuit in the Verdon Gorge is canyoning - a fun, physical activity that introduces visitors to some of the wildest sections of the gorge, including a whole host of natural attractions including water slides, pot-holes and ponds!

The Gorge also has many walking trails, and canoeing can also be a great way to admire the landscape in all its glory from the Verdon River itself.

For those interested in more cultural pursuits, within the boundaries of the park you can visit over 600 historic buildings spread across Verdon’s forty-five villages.

Whether you’re travelling with friends or family there’s sure to be something for everyone.
