Visit Normandy, a Natural and Architectural Gem

Feel the enchantment of Mont-Saint-Michel, Wonder of the Western World. Remember the major historical event that took place on the D-Day Beaches on 6th June 1944. Normandy, one of the famous heritage sites in France, offers the visitor a stunning coastline, picturesque ports and beaches galore and nature lovers can head inland to get away from it all in the idyllic countryside.

Impression in Normandy

Normandy's wildlife and nature, from its incomparable countryside to its sandy and pebbled beaches, are an inherent part of its heritage. Tied to that is the region's role as one of the two cradles of Impressionism - the other being île de France. This famous movement was born out of an artists' association in the second half of the 19th century. The extraordinary light in this region, the wild landscapes of its coasts, and the bucolic charm of its green countryside seduced the likes of Monet, Renoir, Degas, and more.

Normandy: Nature at Paris's Front Door

The Côte d'Albâtre with its dramatic white cliffs; the must-see sites of Etretat, Fécamp, Dieppe, and Veules-les-Roses; to be sure, Normandy is full of jaw-dropping nature.

Deauville, Honfleur, and Caubourg offer elegant seaside resorts on the Côte Fleurie.

Le Contentin and the Sud Manche offer a more wild beauty, alternating between swamps, cliffs, and long, sandy shores.

Of course, you can't talk about Normandy without talking about the majesty of Mont Saint-Michel, which dominates the surrounding landscape.

Away from the Coast

With Giverny and its Impressionist heritage, the Pays d'Auge and its amazing cuisine, the Route des Manoirs on the Perche or Suisse Normande, the interior of the Normandy region is full of treasures waiting to be disovered.

History in Normandy

Considered one of the most famous heritage sites in France, the medieval streets and cathedral of Rouen together with the half-timbered houses take you back to the days of Joan of Arc and the city of Le Havre, reinvented by Auguste Perret after the Second World War, is listed as a Unesco World Heritage site.

In Caen, when visiting the ducal castle as well as the Abbaye aux Dames and Abbaye aux Hommes, you will retrace the footsteps of William the Conqueror and his wife Matilda, a story also told through the world renowned Bayeux tapestry, registered with the UNESCO Memory of the World.
