Flanders Field Cemetery and associated Monuments

During World War One some 1,043 American soldiers lost their lives serving in Belgium. Of 368 are interred at Flanders Field American Cemetery and the names of 43 others, their graves unknown, are recalled on Tablets of the Missing in the Chapel. The cemetery lies on land over which the 91st United States Infantry Division advanced. The 91st, and the three other United States Infantry Divisions that served in Belgium in World War One, the 27th, 30th, and 37th, are honored at this site.The Kemmel American Monument honors service of soldiers of the 27th and 30th United States Infantry Divisions that fought at Mount Kemmel and were part of Allied forces engaged in the Ypres –Lys offensive from August 18th to September 4th 1918.The Audenarde American Monument honors the service of the 37th and 91st United States Infantry Divisions, and the 53rd Field Artillery Brigade that fought in that area from October 30th to November 11th 1918.
