Accommodation on Martinique

Accommodation on Martinique is varied and very well-organised in the island’s tourist areas. In the resorts on the south coast (Trois-Ilets, Sainte-Luce, Diamant and Sainte-Anne) as well as in Tartane, a range of traditional hotels of a high standard (up to 4-star) are available.

Cap Est, mentioned above, and located on the Atlantic coast, is the only 5-star hotel on Martinique.

Many hotel residences can be found in the south of the island, with rooms, studios and apartments equipped with a kitchenette.

On Martinique, you’ll also come across an extensive choice of rental properties and furnished accommodation in the homes of local residents.

Gîtes, such as those offered by Gîtes de France and Clévacances, are the best option for those visitors keen to adapt to the rhythm and pace of Martinique life.

Visitors can also stay in luxury villas full of charm, some of which are located away from the main beach areas – this option is likely to appeal particularly to families planning a trip to Martinique.

Bed & Breakfast properties in the north of Martinique provide an opportunity to enjoy the delights of a stay in the heart of nature in Martinique’s hinterland and to take advantage of the relaxing benefits on offer in this part of the island.

Farm inns (fermes auberges) are becoming more and more popular on the island and will particularly appeal to those tourists in search of a different kind of holiday.

Our favourite places:

Cap Est Lagoon Resort & Spa (5-star)

Located on Martinique’s east coast, 25km from the airport, this 5-star hotel boasts a magnificent location on a gently undulating peninsula that slopes down to a lagoon with crystal-clear water. The property, a member of the Relais & Châteaux network, extends through the middle of extensive grounds home to rare species, in a setting dedicated to serenity and discreet luxury. Its 50 suites, split between 18 detached villas, bring to mind the colourful appearance of typical Creole houses, with their wood cladding and warm tones. As well as its beach equipped with sun-loungers, the hotel’s facilities include a large infinity pool, library, video library, spa, boutique, bar and two restaurants: “Le Campêche” and “Le Bélem”.

Hôtel Bakoua (4-star)

Considered one of the most beautiful hotels on Martinique, the Bakoua, located on the island’s west coast and a member of the MGallery collection, is the perfect destination for a holiday or business trip. This old colonial property has retained its authentic Compagnie des Indes style, with its vast open spaces, canework and exotic wood. The tropical garden opens onto a white sandy beach, where the blue of the sea and the sky provides the backdrop for the silhouette of the Pitons du Carbet. Food-lovers will fully appreciate the gastronomic Creole and international cuisine served by the water’s edge. The hotel also offers numerous and varied leisure activities: steel bands, 4x4 excursions, golf, tennis, horse riding, water sports etc.
