The Route du Rock, Saint-Malo

The 28th edition of Brittany’s Route du Rock will be held in Saint-Malo from 16-19 August 2018.

A legacy born of the free radio stations of the 1980s, the Route du Rock has since earned its stripes and become one of the great rock festivals of the summer. It takes place in Brittany at Fort Saint-Père in Saint-Père (9km from Saint-Malo), as well as on Bon Secours beach and Saint-Malo’s music venue La Nouvelle Vague.

This year’s highlight is arguably set to be Patti Smith, performing on Saturday 18 August; German DJ Ellen Allien will perform on the same evening. French singer Etienne Daho will open proceedings the day before, with American group Anton Newcombe and much-anticipated Brian Jonestown Massacre planned for the same evening (Friday 17 August).

Alongside accommodation in Saint-Malo itself, there’ll also be an on-site campsite for the duration of the festival. And why not take the opportunity to visit the area at the same time? We’d recommend Saint-Malo, Cancale and Dinard: three of the jewels of the Emerald Coast.
