Night show at the Comtal castle in Carcassonne

The second edition of the night show "La Cité des Pierres Vivantes", will be held every evening from August 1 to 31, 2019, at the Comtal castle in Carcassonne, Occitanie.

To create and produce the summer night show "La Cité des Pierres Vivantes" at the Comtal castle in Carcassonne, the Centre des Monuments Nationaux (CMN), in partnership with the City of Carcassonne, called on Amaclio productions.

The first edition attracted nearly 30,000 spectators in 2018. This second edition presents a new show, entirely redesigned by Bruno Seillier.

As soon as night falls, you'll discover the monumental video projection show on the façade of the castle, retracing the restoration of the city of Carcassonne by the famous architect Viollet-Le-Duc.

Breathtaking view of the city of Carcassonne from the ramparts

Enter in the castle, brought to light and music thanks to an unprecedented technological deployment, and enjoy a breathtaking view of the city of Carcassonne from the ramparts.

Fairytale views lead to the wonders of the Middle Ages here in Carcassone: it's easy to fall in love. During the City of Living Stones, even moreso.

Occupied since the sixth century BC, Carcassonne was a Roman city, fortified in the fourth century, before becoming the typical medieval city that we know. In the thirteenth century, the royal power gave the city a second line of ramparts, enlarged the castle and erected an enclosure.

The largest fortified enclosure in France classified as World Heritage by Unesco

Carcassonne is also the largest walled enclosure in France, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1997. Restored by Viollet-le-Duc in the 19th century, the city bears witness to 1,000 years of military architecture and 2,500 years of history. Travel back in time by walking around the walkways, the hoardings and the ramparts.
