Considered to be one of the first jazz festivals to have gained an international reputation, the Nice Festival takes place this year from July 16 to 21, 2018.
Although it began in the late 1940s, just after the Second World War, the Nice Jazz Festival has only been held on an annual basis since 1971. It is one of the great musical events of the Côte d'Azur: its 70 year anniversary will be celebrated this year.
It takes place in two venues: the green theatre of Nice (1,000 seats) and the Scène Massena (6,000 seats), located in one of the main squares of the city center.
Gregory Porter accompanied by the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra
The programming skillfully juggles between jazz and mainstream artists. Thus, audiences can listen to the Trio Rosenberg and pianist Laurent de Wilde, Soulwax DJs, trip-hop band Massive Attack, singer Jack Johnson, or French rapper Orelsan. Aloe Blacc, Derobert & the Half-Truths, and Deva Mahal will also be featured.
For the opening night, Monday, July 16, Gregory Porter will be accompanied by the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra.
