‘Monuments on the move’ is back until 13 October 2019, for its fifth season of artistic performances across France.
With ‘Monuments on the move’, the Centre des Monuments Nationaux invites the public to rediscover France’s historic gems through the creations of up-and-coming and established artists from the world of dance and circus.
On the programme for the 2019 season are 13 artistic performances taking place at 15 national monuments across the country, including the Château de Carrouges, Normandy’s Mont-Saint-Michel, the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud near Paris and the birthplace of George Sand in Nohant.
The Pantheon, Azay-le-Rideau and Villa Cavrois
The Pantheon in Paris is also taking part from 11-12 May, with a representation of ‘The figure of erosion’ by choreographer Nathalie Pernette, which closes the triptych initiated in previous seasons.
On 15 June, the Château d’Azay-le-Rideau in the Loire Valley will be used as part of the choreographic project ‘Origami’, a performance reinterpreting the time and spaces of representation; while the Villa Cavrois in Hauts-de-France, by architect Robert Mallet-Stevens, will host a spectacular ball on 29 September.
The event will end at the Palais du Tau in Reims on 13 October with a taste of the next season: a performance by Belgian acrobat-dancer Alexandre Vantournhout, who begins a large-scale tour that will take him to other monuments in 2020.
