For its inauguration in the heart of Montpellier, MOCO will host around 50 works from the Ishikawa collection. From June 29 to September 29, 2019, immerse yourself in one of the most eclectic universes of contemporary art of the last 20 years. This will be a major exhibition that sets the tone for the artistic ambition of Montpellier.
Initiated in 2011 by the Japanese entrepreneur Yasuharu Ishikawa, the Ishikawa collection brings together an anthology of exceptional artworks that reflect the diversity of contemporary creation of the early 21st century. Through the eyes of 20 or so international artists, the exhibition will be an opportunity to examine the relationship between the viewer and the artwork.
Under the curation of Yuko Hasegawa, Artistic Director of the Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art (MOT) and professor at Tokyo University of Arts, 50 or so eclectic artworks will be presented. Sculptures, videos, installations or photographs mark out a tour accessible to all.
Among the masterpieces on display will be the creations of On Kawara, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Pierre Huyghe, Danh Vo, Tino Sehgal, Motoyuki Shitamichi and Simon Fujiwara.
Three sites in Montpellier for an essential platform of contemporary art in the world
