In Mulhouse, the Schlumpf collection is home to the world’s largest car collection. With almost 500 pristine cars on show, the Cité de l’Automobile contains rare cars from Italy’s Bugatti, not to mention the Rolles Royces, Porsches, Ferraris, and Maseratis.
Off on your holidays, you can also stop by the city centre and discover its architectural wonders and traditional lanes where it’s a joy just to wander!
DINNER IS SERVED!
In Rixheim, a village on the outskirts of Mulhouse, Laurent Haller is a passionate chef who conjures up creative contemporary cuisine without borders. You can even go behind the scenes and join the team, at one of the restaurant’s cookery classes!
GO CULTURAL
Electricity has transformed our world. As it explores its wonders, the Electropolis Museum in Mulhouse invites visitors to imagine the electric world of the future. After several months of renovation work, the museum offers a new, modern and interactive experience with dedicated sections on 21st century energy.
GET ACTIVE
A superlative walking holiday! Tracing the border between Alsace and Lorraine, the Route des Crêtes winds along the summits of the Vosges for 77km. Very popular with walkers, the circuit takes in mountains and high meadows. Make sure you don’t miss the panoramic views of the Green, Black, and White lakes!
TOUR TRIVIA
Mulhouse has seen a victory for three Tour de France winners: Nicolas Frantz, Bernard Hinault and Laurent Fignon, who all went on to win in Paris. Amongst the anecdotes involving this regular fixture in the Tour de France we have the Buysse brothers, the only brothers in the history of the race to have both worn the Yellow Jersey in the same year’s Tour.
EXPERIENCE
Le Rucher des Mûriers is a little family bee farm a few kilometres from Mulhouse. Organic honey, sweets, beeswax candles... they sell a range of bee-related products. Bee-lovers can also try their hand at bee farming with a taster course.
