24 hours in a Palace: L’Apogée Courchevel

Sitting on the heights of the Jardin Alpin, a chic district of Courchevel 1850, L’Apogée Courchevel overlooks the famous resort and its Croisette. Awarded the Palace label in October 2019, it lives up to its name, epitomising the very essence of luxury and pleasure.

10am: A soft landing

From Courchevel altiport, it takes just a few minutes to reach L’Apogée Courchevel, nestled at the heart of the Jardin Alpin. Surrounded by a forest of white powdered fir trees, the cluster of pale wooden chalets looks very inviting.

Inside, its contemporary design, silken furs and soft plaid sofas create the refined atmosphere of an elegant Alpine refuge. Whether you’re staying in one of its 53 rooms and suites, joining family or friends in the Penthouse or enjoying privacy in one of the two adjacent chalets, cosy comfort and cashmere softness abound. Curl up in this cocoon and admire the immaculate winter landscape from the windows and balconies.

12 noon: Lunch at the summit

With its large, welcoming tables and sofas, the L’Apogée bar is ideal for group drinks and dining – and at lunchtime, soak up the sun from its wonderful terrace. Facing south towards the snowy peaks of the Courchevel domaine, it will almost have you forgetting the food – which is always top-notch and full of freshness.

2pm: Hit the slopes

No time to lose – it’s time to get skiing. The L’Apogée Courchevel offers direct, private access to the 600km of slopes of the Three Valleys, the world’s largest ski area.

A quick visit to the hotel’s ski locker for perfumed boots and well-waxed skis, and you’re ready. One hour, two hours... enjoy at your leisure, without keeping count. On your return, a ski valet will help you de-boot, alongside unlimited hot drinks and snacks.

4.30pm: Wellness at altitude

With the sun still shining, the mountain views are still there for the taking – and on the private terrace of the Penthouse, the Hot Tub will doubtless catch your eye. This perfect-temperature jacuzzi might just be the highlight of your day, whether you do it now, later beneath the stars, or early at sunrise. Guests should also enjoy a session at Spa L’Apogée by La Prairie and take advantage of massages, a hammam and sauna, a salt cave and a sleekly-designed pool.

8pm: A gourmet dinner

With its relaxed atmosphere and subdued luxury, Le Comptoir de L’Apogée proves it doesn’t need to be flashy to have the wow factor – it’s the jaw-dropping view from behind its bay windows that create that. Chef Jean-Luc Lefrançois delights his guests with a menu of local cuisine and Savoyard dishes.

Fancy something more exotic? Take a seat for sushi at the large marble counter at Koori, L’Apogée’s Japanese restaurant next door.
