School sports: learning geared towards the body and socialisation
In the school context, "physical and sports education" (PSE) is part of the learning process and achieves specific goals, which are set out in detail by the Ministry of National Education. In primary school, for example, the child learns how to move about and discovers socialisation with their classmates during group games. Outside of teaching time, the National Union of School Sports teaches pupils about community life as well as organising sports activities. It relies on a network of PSE teachers, and benefits pupils aged 11 to 20 who want to practise a sport within the Sports Association of their establishment.
