Receiving treatment on French territory
In France, foreign nationals in a regular situation benefit from the same access to treatment as French nationals. In order to obtain basic universal health cover they need to have been residing in France in a stable and regular manner for three months and have a valid residence permit. European citizens can request their European health insurance card (CEAM) before their arrival to have any medical expenses incurred in France reimbursed promptly when they return to their own country. Finally, any person in an irregular situation without social cover can benefit from State medical assistance for themselves and their dependents.
