France defends and promotes the French language and linguistic diversity within the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF). Its action is founded on the vitality of a significant network of cultural institutes, French alliances and French secondary schools throughout the world. The French-speaking media that are France 24, TV5 Monde and RFI are also essential intermediaries in the promotion of multilingualism, another of France's and the OIF's commitments: "promoting multilingualism in the world means giving meaning to the defence of the French language".
