Isabel Marant
At the simple mention of the name "Isabel Marant" the faces of many young women light up. The phenomenon can be explained: since 1994, the Parisian designer has created stylish and casual fashions, suitable for city dwellers. The label is awaited each year at Fashion week but also sells its collections in Madrid, Hong-Kong and New-York. A small Parisian label has grown up.
When she was still in her teens, Isabel Marant refused to accept monotony and created her own style, a blend of street fashion and stylish details. She didn't stop there. After studying at the Berçot studio and several collaborations, Isabel Marant launched a line of accessories called Twen. The label bearing her name was officially born in 1994. She was designer of the year in 1997 and opened her first boutique in the next year. © AFP

Essentially, Isabel Marant is an inimitable style, both stylish and casual. Where others sublimate femininity, the designer confuses the issue according to well tried criteria: an androgynous look, impeccable but artfully casual cuts, looseness, transparency, layering. The materials are comfortable (silk, wool and cotton), the shades generally neutral but always highlighted by an ethnic touch. © AFP

In less than 20 years, the favourite designer of adventurous Parisian women has imposed her basics. No parade goes by without her "knitwear", whether it is a little cable knit sweater or a large hardly knitted item. As for the dresses, they are always short. However, the true stars are the accessories, such as the hugely popular Willow wedge heeled trainer that has inspired many looks. © AFP
